oh my goodness that face scared the shit out of my friend and I when we first read it you know

and hahaha Sakura is basically tumblr/hashimada fangirls. Because while it’s certainly not healthy in real life honestly Madara’s reactions in canon seem like those insane yandere love interests in some romance manga…And when I saw Madara’s face all I could think was “wow he just jizzed his pants”. 

One day he’ll grow up to be a strong shinobi.

#you know what’s really driven my love for this pairing from the start #is just #naruto’s devotion #to the point of what some might call stupidity #he doesn’t give up even when sasuke brought him to the brink of death #while yes obviously it’s because of the fact that they went through similar things; the same pain #the same loneliness #that’s something that i think… someone else might have disregarded in the face of what sasuke became #i used to get really angry with naruto #because it’s just a childhood attachment isn’t it?? he’s holding onto false hope; he’s delusional #the years they spent together are in no way worth #the years he eventually spent trying to grow stronger and agonizing over what once was #agonizing over the person sasuke used to be #i thought naruto was a dumbass #but then i also thought #sasuke needs him #sasuke needs someone who’ll chase him to the ends of hell and back #someone who doesn’t shun him and grow to hate him for what he’s done #someone who’ll love him despite all of his horrible faults #because i don’t care what anyone says; naruto LOVES sasuke #as a brother and a best friend #as someone who understood him the most #and maybe sometimes i still think that #realistically #naruto should have given up #but i don’t really want him to #he and sasuke fill each other’s empty spaces #sasuke really does need naruto #no matter how cool and aloof he tries to play it #when everyone else knew that sasuke was a threat and that the world would be better off without him

This rings so true to me cos it was repeatedly canonized in Part 1 how Naruto was what Sasuke needed (although subtly cos Kishi was better at writing his manga back in the day).

The fact Naruto becomes the main obstacle to his life purposes (mostly fueled by negativity) is evidently because of this; Sasuke’s quest to destroy him never univocal. The latter always finds a new way to use the relationship between them so he can finally convince himself he can retain that dark path without hindering to those emotions. His being such an obvious shell of his former self whenever confronted with the fact Naruto will never give up on him gives the idea that Sasuke’s choice to be irredeemably alone, by breaking his bonds with Naruto, triggers in him inexplicable emotions. In many ways, I find that this relationship is as equally extreme as it is ridiculous. How can the mere way another is, warp the entire essence of your meaning with such a limited amount of time and space?
